For ages 5 - 105

Whitehill Amateur Swimming Club is a not for profit voluntary organization. All coaches, teachers, pool helpers and committee members give their time free to the Club and on a voluntary basis.

The Club survives through the support of swimmers & families and friends who contribute to and help with fundraising activities.

Each year the Club holds its Annual Gala which consists of Learner displays over two weeks and Competitions for our Junior and Senior Members.

Each year the Club holds a Presentation Disco where our hard won trophies are presented!

The Club operates a House System and swimmers are allocated to a house when they join and register.

Please note we can now accept adults wishing to learn to swim or improve their skills.

  • Want to Swim Like a Fish?

  • Interested in joining the Club?

  • Learner and Junior trials every Thursday at 7.00 pm

  • Senior Trials every Thursday at 8.00 p.m.

Junior Learner Section

The Junior Learner Section is a very popular part of the Club and places are in demand. The Club therefore operates a Waiting List. Following an assessment, future Club members are placed on the Waiting List. Depending upon the length of the list it may be some months between assessment and starting with the Club. If your child has been assessed, is on the waiting list but have improved their swimming skills - please come back to be re-assessed.

 Registration

All Club members MUST be registered with the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association (SASA) and costs payable vary depending on age, first year membership etc. Proportional fees are advised by SASA for mid year members. More details on costs available from June Lawrie, Treasurer. Come along any Thursday between 6.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. for more information.

Special thanks to all the coaches, Teachers, Pool Helpers and Committee Members who give their time freely to ensure the continued success of our Club.

Learner Members (from age 5)

This is our most popular swimming group and a waiting list is in operation. Focus is on establishing basic swimming skills and swimmers are assessed against prescribed criteria. The Club operates a national learn to swim programme and swimmers can join following assessment between Levels 1 - 4.

Swimmers progress through the Levels following assessment and are managed under the "Small Pool Management Scheme".

Pool fees for Levels 1 - 4 are payable in a 9 week block. Pool fees are £9.00 for the block and information is displayed on the notice board for fee payment schedules.

On week 6 fees are payable and assessments take place. As soon as possible after payment of fees any changes to swim levels and time are displayed on our Club Noticeboard.

Junior Members (under 16 years of age)

Learner Members who have transferred to the Big Pool Management Scheme become Junior Members.

Swimmers who, on assessment, have progressed beyond the Learn to Swim programme Levels 1 -4.
