Good behaviour? I have been looking at flats around Dennistoun for the past few weeks hoping to find somewhere for my daughter to settle near her work in the city centre. We really like the feeling of the Dennistoun area and are considering buying a flat on Cumbernauld Road. The only concern is that in the past I noticed the need for meetings regarding steps needed regarding behaviour by youths in the area. Does anyone have advice about buying in this area? just my opinion, as one who loves living in dennistoun, keep to the alexandra parade side; from kennyhill sq to city centre end of dennistoun. Don't think you escape youths anywhere (west end 'youths' set old school building on fire in dowanhill)
Dennistoun is great area where you get gorgeous flats for a reasonable price, in easy reach of the city.

Thank you for the information. That is really helpful. I have been looking at flats just about opposite Kennyhill Square on Cunbernauld Road. Is that a bad idea? If so I'll look further along Alexandra Parade. Thanks again. I really like this area in general.

Still a bit on the dodgy side at that bit. There are usually windows boarded up there and I've noticed most people's windows are filthy which will be due to being on a main road but I'd be concerned about neighbours who don't care for their property. I viewed a flat there and had to walk through a group of NEDs on the approach to the flat and felt totally uncomfortable. Flats there are a cracking size though.

The same old argument rears it's ugly head again. I had a flat in garthland drive in dennistoun for 9 years in the so called residential part of dennistoun and still had problems with youths/neds etc. I agree some of the flats in c/nauld rd look neglegted from the outside this may be due to the amount of private lets but there are some smashing flats to be had for great prices at the mo its a buyers market.

Wouldn't it be a bit noisy living right on Cumbernauld Road? It's a main bus route and that's probably why the windows are dirty.
Anon, I was thinking of saying the same thing myself! The old Haghill vs Dennistoun debate comes up on this forum every year. There are neds all over Glasgow. Leave the country if you want to escape them.

The windows are generally dirty in Dennistoun because its impossible to get a window cleaner. I've asked a few that I have seen in the area and they said they are too busy to do mine

I'm in a top floor tenement and do my own :)I'd encourage everyone to invest in DG swing windows anyway - difference in the noise is incredible.
