Gothic in style from late 12 century onwards, the Cathedral is Crown property cared for by Historic Scotland. The shrine of St. Mungo, patron saint of Glasgow who died in 603 stands in the centre of the Lower Church. Used for more than 800 years as a place of worship it still holds regular services to this day. There are concerts, recitals and other events held at various times throughout the year.
